Brief Description of the Works

The works comprise of widening the carriageway for inclusion of an additional lane travelling west and various other improvements. The widening includes repairs to large areas of the existing carriageway.

The traffic signal system will be upgraded to a MOVA system, along with many improvements for pedestrians including refuge islands and improved crossing points.

As stated previously this is the main route into Hartlepool from the north and traffic can exceed 10,000 vehicles per day.

Access requirements for houses and businesses in the area must also be maintained whenever possible unless prior agreement with property owner can be obtained.
